The Underground Pet Fence Advantage

If you want to keep your dog or other pet safe and secure in your front or back yard, and don’t want to put up a big old ugly fence or wall, an underground pet fence may be a good option for you. Also called hidden, electric, or wireless radio pet fences, these amazing electronic devices can do a tremendous job of keeping your dog or pet behind a boundary that you choose. The dog will not see anything, neither will the neighbors and neither will you.

How do underground pet fences work?

These electronic systems utilize three major parts. There is the wire that gets buried in the yard which forms the boundary, the transmitter that sends out the radio waves, and the collar that must be placed on the pet or dog.

The buried wire puts out a signal that the collar can pick up if it is close enough to the wire. The system is a simple one. As the dog walks toward the wire, the collar will start to beep or vibrate, or both. This serves as a warning to the dog that he or she is walking too close to an area that he shouldn’t be in. If the dog does not recognize the warning signals and continues walking toward the wire, either an electric shock will occur or a spray will be released. Both are very safe and won’t harm the animal at all, but will be unpleasant enough to make it walk back away from the boundary.

The advantages of these electronic dog fences are several. First, the systems are much cheaper than regular fences are. Secondly, because they are underground, the “fence” is invisible to everyone. Third, they help to train your dog and can help to make your dog more obedient. Last, you can easily protect bushes, plants, trees, flowers, or anything else you want to keep your dog away from.
